Antibiotics in the Environment: Prescribing Risks to Non-Target Organisms

چکیده
Background: The cephalosporins class is among the most widely used group of antimicrobials worldwide. Antibiotics, together with other drugs and personal care products, make up a emerging contaminants. effects exposure to this chemical contaminants on non-target organisms are not well understood, as they still poorly studied. Therefore, study evaluated phytotoxicity five in Lactuca sativa. Methods: Lettuce seeds were exposed different concentrations antibiotics (25 500 mg/L) for 5 days dark. After period, germination percentage wet dry weights recorded. Results: highest tested concentration (500 inhibited lettuce (p < 0.05); there was decrease weight when first-generation cephalosporin 0.05). Additionally, significantly negative influence 0.05) fresh weight, especially that 25 mg/L Cefepime. Conclusions: We emphasize no record environmental soil, therefore, we can indicate it possible have damage resulting from inappropriate constant disposal environment.

Carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic health risks of arsenic exposure in drinking water in the rural environment
Carcinogenic and systemic health effects of arsenic exposure in drinking water are well documented. This study estimated the risk associated with chronic consumption of water with high concentrations of arsenic in children and adults living in six Andean locations, in Chile. Concentrations of arsenic in the drinking water were analyzed between 2014 and 2017 based on health authority reports and...
متن کاملNew Antibiotics in Development Target Highly Resistant Gram-Negative Organisms.
Upcoming antibacterial agents in the pipeline appear promising, but it is difficult to predict their long-term durability. This article focuses on investigational agents that target resistant gram-negative organisms commonly found in the health care setting.

Propanil (3',4'-dichloropropionanilide) is one of the world’s most widely used rice herbicides, and it is extensively used in Arkansas, the leading rice producer in the United States (Webster and Gunnel1 1992). On average, the United States has applied approximately five kg/ha/year to about 70-100% of rice hectareacreage for the past two decades (US EPA 1987; Schlenk and Moore 1993). Arkansas, ...

The ability of slugs (Deroceras reticulatum) to survive exposure to various chemical stressors such as molluscicides (carbamates, metaldehyde, iron-chelates) or other environmental pollutants (heavy metals, pesticides) was investigated using x-ray analyses, autoradiography, filter electron rnicroscopy, enzyme histochemistry, enzymatics, electron microscopy, and stress protein analyses. Uptake p...
متن کاملToxicity of fluoroquinolone antibiotics to aquatic organisms.
Toxicity tests were performed with seven fluoroquinolone antibiotics, ciprofloxacin, lomefloxacin, ofloxacin, levofloxacin, clinafloxacin, enrofloxacin, and flumequine, on five aquatic organisms. Overall toxicity values ranged from 7.9 to 23,000 microg/L. The cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa was the most sensitive organism (5-d growth and reproduction, effective concentrations [EC50s] rang...
